525nm

is the wavelength the photometer uses to measure the concentration of a substance in the sample.

The reagents on the test strip and the substance to test in the sample undergoing a chemical reaction causing a colour change.
This colour change is changing the intensity of a light beam the photometer is sending through the sample.
Out of this intensity change and the wave lenght the photometer can calculate the concentration of a substance in the sample.
